Question 1     I have questions, problems or concerns. Where do I start?

Question 3  What courses qualify for Tuition Reimbursement and what is the process?

Answer:  Please read Section 73 of the contract Post Graduate Studies.  Employees are eligible after 1 year of employment with the AIU.

To summarize what courses qualify for tuition reimbursement any graduate courses that are required for a certificate or degree program. Graduate courses will count for ACT 48 credits/hours but ACT 48 courses do not necessarily qualify for tuition reimbursement. If you are not sure about a course check with Human Resources.

The process for tuition reimbursement begins with getting a form from your supervisor prior to the start date of the course, complete the form and return it to your supervisor.  Your supervisor will sign it and return it to you.  You will be required to submit this form along with an official transcript from the college/university once the course is complete. Make copies all  paperwork.  Things get lost!

Question 4 What are some of the state universities that I can go to so I can receive 100% reimbursement?

Answer: If you attend a state university you will be reimbursed 100%. Such universities are: Indiana, California, Slippery Rock, Clarion, Edinboro. If you choose to go to Pitt or Penn State you will only be reimbursed the amount comparable to the state reimbursement.

Question 5     May I use e-mail to communicate with parents/guardians of students I teach?

Answer:   It is highly recommended that e-mail be used very cautiously when discussing issues concerning a student’s academic progress or behavioral issues.  Sensitive matters should not be discussed through e-mail due to the rules of confidentiality.  You could be held accountable for what is stated in an e-mail. Once an e-mail is sent, you have no control over who else may be the recipient of that e-mail.  If a parent/guardian request information about their child through an

e-mail, the recommended response to their e-mail is “Please contact me at (phone  number) to set up a conference at your convenience.  For professional reason I will not discuss  your child’s educational concerns through e-mail”.
