Text Box: President’s Message

Membership dues for the 2009-2010 academic year are $777.00. NEA dues have increased to $162.00 annually and PSEA dues have increased to $415.00 annually. Annual dues for the AIUEA dues remain at $200.

As the Executive Committee begins the second year of our two-year term, we remain committed to supporting our members and ensuring that the Collective Bargaining Agreement is obligatory. As president, I dutifully recognize the team that makes me more than I was expected to be:

	Vice President Suzanne Brannagan
	Vice President Denise F. Croyle
	Secretary Darlene Lengel
	Treasurer Sherry Jacoby
Membership and PACE Chair Erin Lantz
	Grievance Chair Chickie Donovan
Communications Chair, Newsletter Editor Melissa Randolph
	Communications Chair, Webmaster Craig Gunn
	Historian Rich Viggiano
	Past President Wayne Proctor

Be sure to visit our award winning website for timely information:

Have you checked your Professional Development hours? It is our
personal responsibility to monitor our obligations for Act 48.

The Executive Committee and Representative Committee are closely monitoring the status of the state budget. As we go to press with this newsletter, your leadership continues to support the statewide efforts of PSEA to ensure that monies are available to ensure the power of a great education.

Your activity on this issue may be requested. Additionally, Darlene Lengel continues to monitor the status of statewide healthcare.

Congratulations to Newsletter Editor Melissa Randolph and Webmaster Craig Gunn for creating awarding winning communication tools! Under their tutelage, our newsletter and website have been nominated again this year for internal communications awards.

Seven members of the AIUEA attended the annual Gettysburg Leadership Conference in July. This five-day leadership conference is the archetypal opportunity to be immersed in unionism and member advocacy. Each of our participants was awarded a scholarship by PSEA meaning that all expenses, with the exception of travel, were paid by our state organization. Attending this year were VR Campbell, Suzanne Brannagan, Darlene Lengel, Craig Gunn, Betsy Dalton, Mary Brushaber, and Jan Pressman.

Congratulations to PSEA for organizing the very first cyber school in the commonwealth: the AIU’s PALO – PA Online Learners! The AIUEA has met with representatives from the new Association and will continue to support the neophyte organization.

We are specialist ……………………we stay with the child relentlessly.

							Cordially,
							VR Campbell
