Text Box: Our chief negotiator, Denise Croyle has released the following statement about negotiations: NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE: The AIUEA Negotiating Team met with the Intermediate Unit for 9 hours on Tuesday, January 24th.  The focus of discussion was on the remaining critical issues (money, benefits, etc.).  We are happy to report that much progress was made; however, the process is not yet complete.  We will meet again with the Intermediate Unit on February 8th, and will post another update following that meeting.  Thank you for your patience as we work toward a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. PACE is a voluntary contribution you can make to state and local candidates who support issues related to public education. You can also voluntarily contribute to the NEA-Fund. The National Education Association Fund for Children and Public Education supports pro-public education candidates who are running for federal office. If you are a new hire who would like to make a political action contribution for PSEA-PACE for local and state elections and/or the NEA-Fund for federal elections, complete the pledge section on the same enrollment used to join the AIUEA. If you are an existing member who would like to contribute to PSEA-PACE and/or the NEA-Fund, contact Jan Pressman to have a contribution form sent to you. You can make a one-time contribution or a continuous year-to year pledge. Only 42 of our 400 members contribute on a regular basis to PACE. We need your support! Text Box: Sample Letter to write to your State Representatives: Dear State Representative___________________,             I am a teacher with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit3 and I am asking you to vote against Governor Corbett’s education reform agenda.             The governor’s proposal for vouchers, charter school expansions and evaluations of teachers based on state testing are not what we as teachers need for our profession.             The Governor’s proposal could reverse years of gains that have been done by both Pennsylvania students and teachers alike. In my Intermediate Unit, many jobs and programs had to be cut due to the Governor’s proposal and many children’s daily lives were changed.             Please vote against unaccountable and unproven reforms that will take away even more from our schools and children. An overwhelming number of Pennsylvania residents (over 60%) and my colleagues agree to oppose this proposal.  Over 82% of PA residents agree that legislature should avoid cuts for public schools, even if it means raising taxes or cuts to other state programs!!
